If you visit My Debt Diary regularly you may have noticed that a “donate” button has appeared on the blog. Whilst some blogs or websites have them it is not a common site. I certainly don’t see many about. As such, I thought it would be sensible to write a post about it. So why did I add a PayPal Donate button to my blog?
Why did I add a PayPal Donate button to my blog?
You may be aware that blogging is something many people turn into an income generating activity. Some people even earn their main income from their blog. They do, after all, take a lot of work and time commitment to create and maintain.
On of the most popular ways to earn income from a blog or website is advertising. Often that is shown as small bars of ads that run and the top and bottom, and even throughout the middle, of a blog post or page.
My Debt Diary is a space for me to share my own financial journey and advise you in becoming better with your finances. The last thing I want to do therefore, is fill each post with distraction.
More importantly, I have concerns about the potential content of ads if I were to place them here. Normally an ad provider will show content that is in line with that of the blog’s; in this case money. It worries me that ads for things like loans and credit cards might start to appear. That is not a risk I want to take. We’re trying to get out of debt, not build up more!!
As such, I have chosen to add a donate button to my page instead. This allows any visitors to send me an amount of their choosing through PayPal in exchange for the content that I provide. It’s not spammy and it won’t jump out and interrupt a post mid sentence. It’s just there should you choose to use it.
If you do ever choose to click on that donate button and support My Debt Diary financially, thank you! As you can see from my story so far I am on a mission to clear my debt and your help well allow me to reach financial freedom that much sooner. It means the world!
